Zach explains, “When we’re talking about it, the light in the room - that’s one level of how to experience the light. But when you capture it inside of a form or something - now you can really appreciate it for what the light’s able to do, and the bulbs are able to do incredible things. You can do color tuning from 1400 to 10,000, the full white spectrum, right? So barely a glowing ember all the way up to as close to the sun as you can get. Pure white, you know, the most white your eye can even comprehend. They’re doing a lot of mixing with these white LEDs to do that. And then on top of that, they also have RGB capabilities built into it. The thing that distinguishes them is the saturation that you get with those colors. The strongest color saturation I’ve ever seen with some LEDs."

So it made sense for them to partner with lighting designers or light manufacturers, like Niche, to show how you can offer decorative lighting that people can be more creative with or design around. That’s where we come in.” says Zach, “We’re filling that decorative lighting layer. It’s what we’re known for, it’s what we’re good at. It wasn’t that huge of a leap for us to take what we’ve done with primarily transparent glass for the last 20 years and say, ‘We can make this more opaque.’ And the opaque Opalia glass is actively acting as extremely vessel lighting.”

BULB Configuration

The Niche Ketra-Ready Collection is compatible with Ketra's A-20 light bulbs. Zach states, “We primarily use the Ketra A-20 lamps. Think standard Edison-style light bulb, medium-based socket. Those come in two different diffusion reflector configurations. One is semi-directional and the other is omni-directional. That’s how it’s projecting or spreading light. Omni is for throwing light up & down, and semi is more for throwing light down & out. You can use either bulb with the Niche Ketra-Ready Collection."
