Take a look at this! We're just about ready to pour concrete into the rear section of our future hot shop. Today, we poured the first round of concrete into the back of the future cold shop. This is what a traditional radiant heating setup looks like before the pour. "Chairs" are laid down, then steel mesh is laid on top of them with radiant tubes guided throughout. The chairs, as explained in a previous post, allow for the tubes and mesh to be sealed into the center of the concrete instead of lying on the floor, optimizing heat transfer. This is an awesome way to heat the large space. Stay tuned for more on how we're getting creative in our approach to using heat from the furnace to share some of the heating bill!
