Explore how a high-end residential interior designer seamlessly transitions from natural sunlight to a curated selection of interior lighting.
Embracing Natural Light Sources
Embracing natural light can help create a space that feels bright, open, and inviting. As the sun illuminates a space, it brings in the beauty of the outdoors. By incorporating natural light into your design, you can instantly create a warm and welcoming environment. One captivating example of this is found on Bainbridge Island - The Country Club Residence.

Amongst the Trees - The Country Club Residence
Surrounded by lush greenery and towering trees, the team at Tammara Stroud Interior Design's goal for the Country Club was to marry the beauty of the interior with the surrounding landscape. To enhance this experience, the team framed the view with large wood windows that allow natural light to flood the interior. Embracing a neutral color pallet and keeping the selection of materials to a minimum, this project kindly celebrates nature as well as a sophisticated aesthetic.
Transparency of Crystal Glass Lighting
Selecting the right light fixtures is crucial to design projects, choosing fixtures that are decorative and functional is equally as important. Two pendants used in this project instantly stood out to us.
A trio of Crystal Solitaire Pendant Lights, seemingly floating in the stairwell, glisten from the sunlight pouring in from the massive windows. To complement this clear glass, a single Crystal Stamen Pendant, featuring the organic shape of its hand-formed tuck hangs delicately over the large undermount kitchen sink.
By using Crystal glass, each light fixture blends effortlessly into its surrounding environment, yet the warm glow and softness of each shape celebrate quiet moments.

Creating a Seamless Transition
One of the key goals when bridging interior lighting with the beauty of the outdoors is to create a seamless transition between the two. This can be achieved through mindful placement and strategic design choices.
Start by considering the purpose and functionality of the space and then figure out how it can interact with the outdoor environment beyond four walls. Consider the placement of light fixtures in relation to the windows and doors, this will help to create beautiful moments with transitioning between spaces.
Additionally, the use of materials can play a significant role in creating a seamless transition. Opt for materials that can be found outside, like natural stone or wood. Even better, seek out locally sourced products that are native to the area. This creates a visual continuity that blurs the boundaries between inside and out.
By carefully curating the lighting plan, selecting the appropriate materials, and incorporating transparent clear glass fixtures, you can create a seamless transition between your interior and the natural beauty of the great outdoors.
