Blast from the Past: Inside Niche

In honor of our 11th Anniversary, here's a blast from the past! We've compiled a few before-and-after images of our factory here in Beacon, New York. The times have changed, but the use stays the same: crafting handmade products in New York state!

Before & After at Niche
Then & Now: The facade of the Niche factory and warehouse.

Constructed in 1911, this building once housed the Green Fan Company who produced enormous fans for various industries in the United States and abroad. The company was also known for working towards controlling air pollution during the 1970s until they disbanded.

Before & After: An inside look at the Hot Shop
Then & Now: Interior of the Niche hot shop.

Later, the Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry moved into the site. The foundry worked alongside world-renowned artists; transforming concepts, models, and digital files, into large-scale works of art in bronze, steel, iron, and other precious metals. Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry now continues its operations nearby in Rock Tavern, New York.

Before & After: Inside the Warehouse
Then & Now: Inside the Niche warehouse where we host our bi-annual Factory Sale, and finalize and pack orders daily.

Empty for about 5 years, in 2011, our Creative Director, Jeremy, saw the old factory building as a perfect fit for the Niche glass studio! What was once dirt floors and boarded up windows is now a functional work environment flooded with natural light. Niche has certainly cleaned up the place and is happy to call it our own! Each step of the glass process happens right here in our facility, and we couldn't be prouder! This year, to celebrate 11 years of handmade design, we are giving away one of our glass pendants to a lucky Instagram Follower. View the official contest rules to find out more on how to enter!
