Niche Modern had a nice shout out on the beloved blog Design Sponge last week. We really dig the color of this glass lamp with the warm wood base. It's fun to see all the reverence in the design community for Edison style bare bulbs. We obviously feel passionately about them too and believe firmly that there is a place for these bulbs in the eco-conscious world.
This is something glorious to cast your eyes upon, for those who can't swoon their way into an overnight stay. Gild Hall, a Thompson hotel located in the Financial District of New York City, is the boutique sweetheart of design lovers the world around. The hotel was designed by Jim Walrod, known as the "design guru" or, as Mike D. from the Beastie Boys calls him, "the furniture pimp." These images are sure to please!
Wherever you choose to put your Niche modern kitchen pendant lights, and no matter how you style them, a unique centerpiece of contemporary kitchen lighting will certainly be the perfect addition to your interior. Take a look at a gorgeous pendant lighting installation in Vancouver for inspiration. Designed by David Drummond Clarke Interior Design, this Canadian kitchen features a duo of classic Niche pendants, which add the perfect touch to this chic space.
We had such a blast this week when my daughter's 2nd grade class came to visit the glass studio at Niche Modern! We put cones around the work station as a safety precaution but the kids were so completely spell bound as they watched Adam and the team work with the glass that they were literally frozen in place. One of the teachers commented about how beautiful our team is to watch because they move around each other as they work in a kind of complicated, wordless dance that is so graceful it seems choreographed. One of the 8 year old girls was especially excited to meet Annie and see living proof of what she called: "an awesome girl glass blower!" We were reminded of how special our Niche Modern crew is and how inspiring their teamwork and collective skills are. Who knows: maybe a seed was sown and a future glass blower will emerge from this field trip one day!
Olive and Ivy is a fantastic restaurant in Scottsdale Arizona featuring 75 Amber and Crimson Niche Modern Pharos pendants at staggered lengths throughout the main dining room. This was a job we did back in 2006 but we weren’t able to get there in person until this winter. The food is sublime! If you ever find yourself in Scottsdale and have time for lunch, the apple caponata bruschetta is especially amazing. I know it’s a pretty sweet benefit to my life at Niche Modern that I get to travel the world and drop in on these inspiring establishments displaying our lighting but if I don’t stop eating in this decadent style I’m never gonna be ready for bikini season! ;)
We’re back from London and settling into the hardest part of winter in New York: the very end! So many feasts for the eyes as well as the belly in London. Some other highlights, after our lovely lunch at Pollen Street Social, included a dinner at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant Fifteen where our Niche Modern Turrets are strung across the back wall with flare and the stunning Harry’s of London on scenic, posh South Audley Street in Mayfair where a Niche Modern Sola 36 with Gray Solitaire glass is prominently displayed. It was a huge treat for us to see our work in person in these creative, breathtaking environments.
We're visiting London this week and the rumors are true: the food is amazing all around. We dug in at Pollen Street Social yesterday and were completely enchanted by the warm, minimal interior where 25 (!!) Clear Niche Modern Solitaires are featured in the dining room. Both the service and the meal were absolutely incredible as well. I had a dish with tender Jerusalem artichokes, spiced aubergine and roasted ceps. I won't even get into dessert for fear of drooling on my laptop...We were truly honored to see our work at this magnificent restaurant. I took a quick, inconspicuous pic with my cell; sorry for the quality!
Our own beloved Nicheling Dan was out and about in NYC’s west village and stumbled upon some Niche Modern Bella pendants in Sapphire at the lovely, old school Avignone Pharmacy. The packaging on the products at Avignone is pretty magnificent across the board and corresponds really nicely with the Bellas. It’s always a huge treat when one of us happens upon our pendants out in the world.
When LDa Architecture & Interiors Principal Treff LaFleche was presented with the opportunity to renovate and expand his own home, he made the commitment to design and construct the home with the goal of obtaining LEED for Homes Certification. We are always especially honored when our work is used in an LEED-certified environment (green building certified), and this is one of those examples. The updated designs create a fresh atmosphere while preserving the valuable original exterior and interior architectural fabric of this 1906 Victorian home.
