We can't believe that public art project Constellation is approaching its second year since its opening in June 2015. Artist Melissa McGill's project is located on the ruins of the Bannerman Castle in the Hudson River between Beacon and Cold Spring. The large-scale installation forms a "constellation" of "stars" above the ruins, aiming to connect Earth and heavens, past and present and myth and fact.
McGill's new mini-documentary, as seen above, provides a glimpse into the process of making some of the components for the installation. This includes Dick Polich of Polich Tallix Fine Art Foundry and Niche's talented glassblowing team. Polich Tallix fabricated the poles where the "stars" perch and Niche made the "stars" which are handblown glass orbs in our Sapphire glass color.
