Final decisions about equipment placement in the future Niche Modern glass studio are being considered this week. Since we have no shortage of cardboard on hand and given that it’s a helluva lot easier to move than, say, a 1,000 lbs. furnace, we thought this might be a better way to test the plan as we move the dream from schematic drawings to the real world.

This is a great cross section view of the glass studio where heavy machinery is constantly buzzing about. From this perspective you can see the hot shop: where the glass is blown, the hallway: which separates the spaces and the cold shop: where the glass is finished, packed up and shipped. You can also see the stairs which lead up to the mezzanine where we hope you’ll come one day soon to watch us work!

This one is a treat! From all the way across the Pacific, and “down under,” we have received word about an acclaimed restaurant, in the hip suburb of Fitzroy on Gertrude Street, called Cutler & Co. Partners Andrew McConnell and Pascale Gomes-McNabb have pooled their talents together again, after successfully drawing attention at Cumulus, Inc., an informal restaurant/hang out spot in Melbourne. Cutler & Co. won Gourmet Traveler’s Restaurant of the Year in 2010. Without stepping a foot inside, we suspect why….
