Versatile Pendant Lights Spotted in this 1920s Remodel

A one-hundred-year-old townhouse, last updated in 1960, went through a gut renovation in the spring of 2020. The overall goal for this transformation was to preserve vintage moments in the home while incorporating new products & finishes to create a chic mid-century modern-inspired abode.

Interior Designer, Thayer Woods, used this one-hundred-year-old home renovation project, located in Queens, NY, as inspiration during the COVID-19 pandemic. As demolition began in the townhouse, vintage elements were preserved from the original 1960s design. With the intent to create an effortlessly fresh and timeless space, a few fun, retro moments were maintained and celebrated as a nod to the home's past.

Two key elements that Woods insisted on preserving were the fabulous green & gold vintage wallpaper, which acts as a focal point upon entering the home, and the original mid-century handrail. To achieve the goal of mixing old and new, THAYER WOODS HOME + STYLE incorporated handmade modern glass pendant lighting to brighten and add color to the dining area.

A thoughtful arrangement of glass lighting was used as a focal point above the dining room table. The beautiful cluster of different shapes, sizes, and colors includes a Sapphire Aurora, a Gray Trove, a Smoke Oculo, and a Plum Helio & Pod pendant light. Sourcing a 5 port canopy was a clever way to combine 5 handmade glass light fixtures into a single custom chandelier.

A playful mix of glass added the finishing touches to the playful mix of old and new in this charming Queens, NY home.
