Mexico City boasts a booming design industry with a unique charm. The Zona MACO, or the Zona Mexico Contemporary Art Fair, is just one of the dozens of reasons to pay attention to the sprawling Central American metropolis. Our Oculo Modern Pendant Light was featured at the stand of ADN Galeria, a popular gallery located in Mexico City, known for their focus on design objects “from different time periods, origins and styles.”

We’re delighted to join several local artisans and manufacturers in a new collaborative partnership. Randall Martin, a local graphic designer, has been behind the scenes, crafting this booklet for your viewing pleasure. It speaks for itself, a book of working artisans, living and working in Beacon, and you can view it here, or order your own copy to keep at home! It’s a great pleasure, and deep comfort, to live in Beacon, discovering its roots in hard work and creativity, again, and to work among these local leaders in Beacon’s momentum forward as a design capital north of New York City, in the Hudson River Valley.
Featured in the book are: Mod-Craft – local ceramic tile maker Wickham – local woodworker Atlas Industries – local modular furniture and shelving manufacturer Architectural Glass – local architectural glass manufacturer Niche Modern – yours truly, local blown glass pendants and modern chandeliers manufacturers
We recently discovered a now forgotten GOLD MINE of Niche Modern pendant lights. The location was underneath the vaulted ceiling of the main dining room at the old Hollywood Athletic Club, last open to the public under the name “Citrus at Social,” in Downtown Los Angeles. The room was a perfect home for our Terra and Binary pendants.
You can view the source of our excitement below:

“Light Fixtures by Jeremy Pyles for Niche: In botany, a flower is considered perfect if it contains both male (stamen) and female (pistil) reproductive organs. And while Mr. Pyles was definitely focused on the masculine character of both his Stamen (right) and Bell Jar(middle) designs with their elongated bulbs, the delicate structure of the surrounding glass is unmistakably feminine. His Terra Quattro fixture (left) contains a corresponding number of standard bulbs. Each is available in smoke, dark gray, and a particularly stunning amber tone.”
