The kitchen has become the central hub of many homes and requires lighting that illuminates everyday tasks and adds personality to the room's design. Kitchen lighting tends to be more functional than decorative, but that doesn't mean you're stuck with boring options. When lighting a kitchen island or counter, here are two pendant lighting configurations you may consider.
One of Los Angeles' most exciting and in-demand interior design firms, Annette English & Associates, is known for creating innovative, timeless and sensual interiors designed around the modern lifestyle. This Manhattan Beach, California modern home was designed for an art-collecting couple. Jewel tone accents, rich textures, and various materials come together to form a quirky but tasteful backdrop for the couple's art collection.
We already knew that Annette English & Associates liked our Pharos pendant lights, as seen in her Palisades Modern project, so we're not surprised to see them again in one of the bathrooms in this home. Our signature Gray glass modern lighting matches the bathroom tile just right. Even without bright colors, the gray tile and wooden vanity create the ideal balance between cool and warm that is seen throughout the rest of the home, allowing neutral backgrounds for the couple's eclectic art and decor.
The latest issue of Dwell hits the shelves this week and "Make It Modern" couldn't be a better title for this September issue. Be inspired by thoughtfully designed spaces brought back to life with understated style.
To keep it simple, try incorporating a modern chandelier lighting like a piece from our Sola Collection to create a strong focal point in any space. Flip to the Modern Market section to check out one of our favorites from the Sola Collection, the Pod modern chandelier. Shown with a polished aluminum frame and hand-blown gray glass it can be the modern touch in your next renovation.
Managing editor of Design Milk, Caroline Williamson, compiled a list called "10 Minimalist Bathrooms of Our Dreams." We have to agree, every bathroom she honed in on is certainly dreamy. All 10 of her picks are black, white, or both black and white, and a few have wood accents that contribute a spa-like appeal. Out of all of these beautiful, no-frills bathrooms, one stood out to us as the Prospect Height's townhouse designed by Etelamaki Architecture that features our Solitaire modern lights. The signature Crystal glass is perfect for this Brooklyn bathroom's minimalist approach and creates symmetry alongside the interior's double mirrors and sinks. We also included this project as one of our six favorite bathroom modern lighting installations. Get more inspiration here.
Here's a modern pendant lighting usage we don't see every day. One of our Gray Terra pendant lights found a new home inside of an exceptionally stylish laundry room that also doubles as a foyer with ample storage space.
From the perspective to the left, the Terra pendant mimics the washing machine door's circular shape. While that may be more of a coincidence, Clean Design Partners tastefully pieced together this space otherwise. A shiny, metallic backsplash pairs with the faucet and cabinet hardware, giving a sleek pop to the overall neutral interior.
A dark gray tiled floor was a smart choice, as we imagine tiny little feet trample playfully in an out of this foyer quite often. White cabinetry and shelving provide a balance between the dark gray floor, black laundry equipment, and the statement modern lighting that hangs from the ceiling.
