As summer comes to a slow but much anticipated close, Beacon, New York generates quite the buzz when the fall foliage begins to turn. Guests from all over the country visit the Hudson Valley to see beautiful fall colors coating rolling mountains in the backyard of Niche HQ. Here are 5 things to do in Beacon this September!

 

1. The Beacon Flea Market

When: Every fair weather Sunday, 8 AM - 3 PM

Where: 6 Henry Street and S. Chestnut Street

If you're an antique hunter or thrift shopper, this is the place to go on any Sunday from now until November. Discover old paintings, collectible toys and antique furniture among many other hidden treasures at the Beacon Flea Market.

 

2. Fire Clay Paint Opening Reception

When: Saturday, September 13th, 6 PM - 9 PM

Where: Hudson Beach Glass, 162 Main Street

Discover ceramic works from four artists at the Fire Clay Paint Opening Reception, hosted by Huson Beach Gallery. Ceramic works will showcase the beauty of the wood-firing process and embrace abstract work.

 

3. Beacon Independent Film Festival 2016

When: September 16th - 18th

Where: University Settlement Camp Theater, 742 Wolcott Avenue

Enjoy 3 days of independent features, documentaries and short films alongside food vendors, panel discussions and family activities at the Beacon Independent Film Festival. Each day has a special event scheduled, such as an opening night gala at Dogwood (Sept. 16), a filmmaker breakfast at the CineHub (Sept. 17), Fright Night at the CineHub (Sept. 17) and free kids' programming (Sept. 18).

4. Hudson River Craft Beer Festival

When: Saturday, September 17th, 12 PM - 5 PM

Where: Riverfront Park, 1 Flynn Drive

Experience new flavors of over 200 craft beers and food at the Hudson River Craft Beer Festival. Watch live music and shop at local vendors. Participants must be at least 21 to attend. Tickets can be purchased here.

 

5. For Goodness Bake Sale

When: Saturday, September 24th, 10 AM - 4 PM

Where: Catalyst Gallery, 137 Main Street

This annual pop-up bake sale, For Goodness Bake, offers yummy treats in exchange for awareness of worthy causes within the Hudson Valley. The chosen beneficiary receives 100% of the proceeds from the sale. Be sure to get there early, though! The shop closes up as soon as the last baked good is sold!
